Physical Therapist | Massage Therapist
"I started seeing Britt as my physical therapist. I was having constant pain in my back. This was as a result of bad posture and excessively working out incorrectly. Through Britt’s therapy, the pain has nearly gone away. She taught me how to exercise and stretch correctly, and continually adjusts my stretches and exercises as I get stronger. I can now stand and sit correctly and I feel no pain when I exercise. I was lucky Britt is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, because the combination of physical therapy and massage therapy made a huge improvement with my back issues. Because she is my Physical Therapist, she knows the areas to focus on when giving me a deep tissue message. During the massage sessions, she is always open to answering my physical therapy questions, including giving me advice and guidance on my stretches and exercises. I feel a big improvement after each session. My goal is to continue my monthly massage therapy sessions with Britt so that I never go through that kind of pain again with my back. My entire experience with Britt has been very positive. Her kindness, knowledge, patience and open mindedness to adjusting my PT and massage sessions based on my progress makes me forever grateful that I found such a wonderful Physical Therapist and Massage Therapist in one. Thank you, Britt!" - Susan H., 47 (April 11, 2016)
"In a sentence, Brittany gave me my life back. A year and a half after suffering from an achilles injury during a skiing accident, the pain was still constant and preventing me from doing activities I used to take for granted. I hadn't been able to ski since the accident and snowshoeing, hiking, and even walking or driving for more than a few minutes left me wiht a swollen and sore achilles that severely diminished the quality of my life. I had tried custon orthotic insoles and months of traditional physical therapy elsewhere but it did little to relieve the pain and heal the injury. A friend recommended Fitzgerald Physical Therapy and said they were able to work wonders on chronic injuries that other practitioners had given up on so I thought it was worth a try. Brittany treated my injury with Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization for 12 weeks and I began to feel improvement almost immediately. During those 3 months, my injury went from 45 to 80% and then plateaued. I was grateful for the improvement but assumed I would never be 100% pain free again. Brittany suggested dry needling as a last resort and after 8 sessions, the pain was completely gone! I have been pain free for 2 months and it feels fantastic! I have successfully resumed my active lifestyle, including skiing and have plans to hike Tuckerman's Ravine next week. Thank you, Brittany! I couldn't have done it without you." - Robin L., 46 (March 2015)
"For me, Fitzgerald PT was the perfect place and Dr. Brittany Smith was the perfect clinician. I had been in a horrific motorcycle accident, had a bad PT experience that necessitated all new surgery, another few months on my back, and a very poor prognosis for being able to use my dominant arm and shoulder in a meaningful way. Dr. Smith didn't believe them and neither did I. With Dr. Smith's guidance my surgeon could not believe my recovery. I had been so depressed by those telling me what I couldn't do that hearing the optimism and conviction of Dr. Smith was all I needed. Almost 2 years later I can only say I am amazed and blessed that I have had the good fortune to find Fitzgerald PT and Dr. Brittany Smith." - James T., 62 (January 4, 2015)
"I began therapy with Brittany after suffering a knee injury during a Tough Mudder Event. I was told by a doctor that I "might not be able to do those (OCR) types of races anymore." This was unacceptable to me as I am dedicated to health, fitness, and racing. From the first session Brittany was honest and optimistic with me. She took the time to explain the injury, how it was affecting me, and what needed to be done to treat it. She took into consideration my lifestyle and choice in athletic events and tailored a program specifically for me. Throughout recovery Brittany was able to answer questions, gauge progress, and give me exercises that would challenge me to gain strength and recover quickly. I was amazed at her knowledge and expertise but also her ability to explain matters in understandable terms. I would, and have, recommended friends to Brittany and they have had similar experiences. I hope I do not require formal therapy in the future, but if I do I will be scheduling sessions with Brittany." - Serra L., 36 (October 8, 2014)
"I came to Brittany to help me with long-term lower back pain. Her expertise, caring nature and dedication made each physical therapy session an extremely valuable learning experience for me. I am now consistently exercising core muscles on my own and have no pain. If it ever returns, I will have no hesitation in seeking Brittany's help." - Dorian S., 37 (August 16, 2014)
"I arrived on Brittany's doorstep after two years of pain and multiple unsuccessful spinal treatments. Brittany is the first to show me new innovative therapies and exercises to treat my moderate to severe auto injuries. Brittany explained the therapies and science behind the muscles in a way I can understand and remember. Brittany always spends extra time with me to ensure she is educating me for real life scenarios outside of her care. Brittany utilizes every option to find a solution that works tailored to my needs. I have never met a person more dedicated and invested in my health and recovery than Brittnay and would recommend her to anyone." - Michael B., 28 (April 3, 2014)
"Brittany has been a tremendous help to me with my rehab. She is knowledgeable, yet inquisitive, and continues to look for ways to get better at her craft. She is strict with her patients, giving us tough love to make sure we do things the right way; but always with a smile. What makes her most effective is her unique blend of her massage and physical therapy skills. She also makes sure my rehab sessions are not boring; which helps when you know you are going to be rehabbing an injury for a long time." - Helen W., 49 (March 28, 2014)
"Brittany was my physical therapist after having major knee surgery. I'm an active person and was very nervous about my recovery. Brittany's approach put me at ease almost immediately. I knew I was in the right place to get me healthy again. I can't thank her enough for being tough on me when I needed it, for her knowledge and for genuinely being invested in my progress. I can't say enough good things about Brittany. Thank you!"
